The Attic Art Yard Makeover: Preparation and Cleaning Process

Clearing the old wires glued in the ceiling
Cleaning and checking all the old things found in the space, carrying heavy dirtied furniture
The walls and ceiling needed full repair
This ceiling part fell on us in the process, we had to replace it with what we had
The outdoor spaces also needed deep cleaning
The old attic was infested and filled with heavy objects that needed thorough cleaning
The old outdoor kitchen was very difficult to even enter and cleaning this was really exhausting
What came along was the plastic waste in the outdoor space which was left by the people who stayed here
There was also wild bee honey hives in the old kitchen backyard. But the way it was found was also devastating. The plastic waste were too much to handle

Every nook and corner was disgusting to handle. No mask and gloves helped us from the health hazards that followed

In the beginning stages of my art renovation project, I faced a daunting task: cleaning up an abandoned site that had been left to decay for over ten years. This place, which I now call the Attic Art Yard, was filled with dirt, debris, and neglect. With no means to afford professional help, I turned to the best team I could ever have asked for—my mom and sister.

Together, we tackled this enormous task with determination and grit. The yard was a mess, the kind that makes you wonder where to even start. Dust coated every surface, cobwebs hung in every corner, and the floor was littered with trash and remnants of the past. It was hard to see the potential beauty beneath all the grime. Armed with basic cleaning supplies, we set to work.

We didn't have fancy equipment or the latest cleaning products—just brooms, mops, buckets of soapy water, and sheer willpower. Each day, we dedicated ourselves to a different section of the yard, slowly chipping away at the layers of dirt. It was tough, exhausting work, but it was also incredibly rewarding.

We found moments of laughter amidst the labor, sharing stories and creating new memories as we cleaned. My mom guided us through the toughest spots with her endless wisdom and patience.  Together, we transformed what was once an eyesore into a blank canvas, ready for the next steps of my art project.  We didn't have much resources, but we had each other, which made all the difference. The Attic Art Yard stands now as a symbol of our hard work and dedication, a space reclaimed from neglect and given a new lease on life. Cleaning the site was the first crucial step in my art renovation journey.

It laid the foundation for everything that was to come. With the site finally clean, I could begin to envision the possibilities, dreaming of the art and creativity that would soon fill this space. Looking back, I am grateful for those days of hard work and for the support of my mom and sister. Together, we turned a daunting challenge into a beautiful beginning.

But I cannot use flowery tones in explaining this process, it was disgusting and too much of mental and physical stress at this point. Watch this space to know more
